AT&T TO OFFER IPHONE 5 ON THE NATION’S LARGEST 4G NETWORK ON SEPT. 21

AT&T today announced it will offer iPhone 5 beginning Friday, Sept. 21. Customers will be able to pre-order iPhone 5 online beginning Friday, Sept. 14 at www.att.com/iphone. iPhone 5 will be available for a suggested retail price of $199.99 for the 16GB model, $299.99 for the 32GB model, and $399.99 for the 64GB model. Only AT&T offers the nation’s largest 4G network, along with a variety of shared and individual data plans.

AT&T hosts “It Can Wait” Hackathon to discourage texting while driving – 9/7-8 & 9/18

Today, technology plays an important role in most of our lives.  It can make us more connected, can make everyday tasks more convenient and can even make us safer.

With that in mind, AT&T is challenging developers to create mobile apps that present a real solution to the texting while driving epidemic—which causes more than 100,000 automotive accidents every year—by inviting them to participate in an “It Can Wait” Hackathon in Los Angeles, Calif. on Sept. 7-8, 2012. The grand prize winner—announced on Sept. 18^th—will receive $20,000 from AT&T. The event is part of AT&T’s national campaign to save lives by discouraging texting while driving.

In a twist on the classic hackathon, five finalists will be selected following an intensive 24 hours of coding.  Those finalists will then have 10 days to refine their apps and present them again on Tuesday, Sept. 18—the eve of AT&T’s national day to discourage texting while driving.  At that time, winners will be selected and will receive the following prizes:

·         1^st Place: $20,000

·         2^nd Place: $7,000

·         3^rd Place: $3,000

     AT&T’s texting while driving simulator will also be on site for the first night, Friday, Sept. 7.

Friday, Sept. 7 and Saturday, Sept. 8  ----- 6 p.m.– 9 p.m------

Winners announced at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012.

COACHELLA FESTIVALGOERS GO WILD WITH WIRELESS THANKS TO AT&T

537 MILLION UPLOADS AND DOWNLOADS, 62 MILLION TEXTS

Music fans packed the first weekend of the annual Coachella Festival and didn’t miss a beat communicating their own reviews through 537 million uploads and downloads as well as 62 million texts according to AT&T.  The company set up a major installation to provide wireless service over a venue the size of 45 football fields.  

AT&T’s Coachella Compound includes three COLTS and one COW, temporary cell sites on wheels plus additional equipment spotted strategically around the venue to ensure wireless signals reach their targets.  This equipment is all moveable and can be deployed to provide expanded coverage at major events such as Coachella or the Super Bowl or to provide emergency service in the case of natural disasters.  (AT&T recently secured Department of Homeland Security certification for disaster preparedness – the first for a private sector company).

AT&T’s enhanced wireless service will be in place again this weekend as well as for the Stagecoach Country Festival the following weekend.

AT&T* has turned on its 4G LTE network in Los Angeles, bringing customers the latest generation of wireless network technology. AT&T 4G LTE provides several benefits, including:
