Oldest Operating McDonald's in the World

Opened on August 18, 1953 this McDonald's at 10207 Lakewood Blvd. (Downey, CA.) was the third McDonald's built and is the oldest surviving McDonald's. It was listed on the National Trust for Historic Preservation's 1994 list of the 11 Most Endangered Historic Places.  It still has the two original 30-foot (9.1 m) "Golden arches" and a 60-foot (18 m) animated neon "Speedee" sign.
When opened, hamburgers were 15 cents and french fries 12 cents.

With low sales, damage from the 1994 Northridge earthquake, and the lack of a drive-up window and indoor seating, the restaurant was closed. However with both the public and preservationists demanding the restaurant be saved, McDonald's spent two years restoring the restaurant and reopened it. Customers today can visit the original restaurant and an adjoining gift shop and museum.

AT&T MOBILE EMERGENCY UNITS IN ANAHEIM

AT&T revealed critical upgrades it has installed at the Anaheim Switch Center --  one of four major switch centers in Southern California – to members of the Anaheim City Council, Chamber of Commerce and business community.  A “switch,” sometimes referred to as a “telephone exchange” is the central communications hub for a region that connects telephone calls and data.  The upgrades will ensure access for customers in Anaheim to state-of-the-art technologies in mobile broadband communications.

The Anaheim community leaders also had an opportunity to interact with two AT&T mobile emergency units at the switch center – a “Cell on Wheels” otherwise known as a COW, and a “Cell on a Light Truck” (COLT).  In addition to providing day-to-day emergency mobile cell service, these vehicles are deployed to provide service following disasters such as the winter flooding in Los Angeles, recent fires in the San Fernando Valley and at events such as the Staples Center NBA All-Star Game, and dozens of other music and film events.
